How Bitcoin Hashrate Records Are Making the Network More Secure Than Ever

The hashrate measures how many calculations per second are being made by miners around the world to find the next valid block. When the hashrate rises, it becomes exponentially more difficult for any single entity to attack the network. This is because an attacker would need to control over 50% of the total hashrate to manipulate transactions, an endeavor that becomes practically impossible as the collective power of miners increases.
